In his first major film, Alien , director Ridley Scott presents an encounter with a horrific monster which springs from an egg pod and wraps itself around the host life-form--in this case, an unsuspecting human being. Despite all efforts, the alien refuses to relinquish its grip on the life-form, until is it lasered away in pieces.
