William Gibson's science fiction novel, Neuromancer, is often cited (wrongly, I would argue) as the progenitor of the whole cyberpunk aesthetic and literary movement/genre. In this novel, the characters spend much of their time interfacing, i.e. attached to the 'Net (Internet) via a cerebral/cortical implant. These characters then surf across a global network, 'facing with others, good and bad, in cyber-space. The image (and reality) of the Internet seems a quintessentially Deleuzean structure. The 'Net is arguably Rhizomatic; the 'facing clearly challenges subjectivity.
