Mexican novelist and essayist Carlos Fuentes, in his immensely complex novel, The Death of Artemio Cruz, fragments the subject, Cruz, into multiple parts, some narrated in the third person, some narrated in the second person, and some related as a first-person narrative. The effect is one of dis-continuity, dis-crepancy, and dis-location.
