In her seminal essay, "A Manifesto for Cyborgs," polymath Donna Haraway examines the power and the emancipatory effects that a human/animal/machine linkage might create. In the final line, she says "Rather a cyborg than a goddess"--which indicates better part machine, part animal, part human--i.e. artificial construct--than a goddess--a thing of "nature."
