Orlan is a contemporary performance artist who has undergone an extended series of public cosmetic surgeries. Her ultimate goal is to re-configure herself so that she "resembles" the most beautiful female figures of all time. Through these performative acts, she is dis-assembling, and re-configuring, her-self into (an)other physiognomy and (an)other identities.
