"Scientifiction" was one of the earliest terms coined for what is now commonly referred to as "science fiction." Its use here indicates the "primitive" stage of the genre at that time, and some of the images common in SF at that time, i.e. machines taking over, chaos, BEMs (Bug-Eyed Monsters), et cetera .
