Emerging Possibilities - Reinhardt

"Britney: Camouflaged Corruption" is a research essay that synthesizes new media (audio, video, and images) and print text in a way that models one possible way to construct a multilinear hypertext research essay. The splash page for the hypertext appears below. The central graphic is an image that creatively brings together Britney Spears and Lil' Kim it a way that introduces the user to the hypertext essay. The six main areas of the hypertext are represented by buttons at the margins of the image.

Once inside, the new media elements of the project are interwoven with text in highly effective ways. For example, the juxtaposition of two pre-teen or teenaged girls and an image of the Britney Spears doll is a visual representation of textual claims (developed using theories from cognitive psychology and media studies) about the impressionable nature of young people.
