The splash page for Culture Machine is a well-designed, futuristic image map. The three pillars of the journal include the E-Journal, the Editorial section, and a User Manual that suggests the reader will interact with the journal. But the actual texts within Culture Machine are mostly HTML essays. Any real interaction with these texts occurs in ways analogous to the reader's engagement with print-based texts.
