HTML Essay - Culture Machine contents

Culture Machine is a hypertext above the level of the individual contributions to the journal. The screen capture of a recent volume's Table of Contents includes links from the essay titles to the individual essays. This is not particularly surprising since Culture Machine is an online journal.

What is perhaps surprising given the journal's online status, is the fact that the hypertextual elements of the journal's navigation do not impinge on the overwhelming linearity of the essays that appear in the journal. In this sense, most of the contributions to Culture Machine do little to test the boundaries of argument in hypertext. At least one notable exception is David Kolb's "Hypertext as Subversive?"
