The choices for samples throughout this essay, therefore, are all from 1979. Citations throughout the text are not meant as "contextual scholarly evidence" supporting my claim and thus, demonstrating exhuastive field research. Instead, the citations serve as samples juxtaposed together to create an argument. Using Bowie's "DJ" as my heuristic, I chose 1979 as a guiding principle for this specific performance of my theory. The rationale for doing so is to provide one example of how this form of argumentative writing can work. My temporal choice, then, is not meant to be restrictive. In fact, the temporality I work from as well as the form this hypertext takes are just one way to demonstrate hypertext as a juxtaposing writing practice. Other examples no doubt could be performed as well.
