C. Richard King Professor and Chair of Comparative Ethnic Studies at Washington State University, has written extensively on the changing contours of race in post-Civil Rights America. His work has appeared a variety of journals, including American Indian Culture and Research Journal, Journal of Sport and Social Issues, Public Historian, Qualitative Inquiry, Colorlines Magazine. He is also the author/editor of several books, including Team Spirits: The Native American Mascot Controversy (a CHOICE 2001 Outstanding Academic Title), Postcolonial America, and more recently Native American Athletes in Sport and Society. His most recent work has focused on race and kids' popular culture, including a special issue of Cultural Studies<=>Critical Methodologies and a forthcoming book, Animating Difference: Race, Gender, and Sexuality in Recent Children's Movies (with Carmen Lugo-Lugo and Mary Bloodsworth-Lugo). Presently, he is completing a monograph (with David J. Leonard) analyzing the production and consumption of media culture within white nationalist communities.
