Jason Edward Black (PhD Maryland) is an assistant professor at the University of Alabama. His research program is located at the juncture of rhetorical studies and cultural studies, with an emphasis on social change. His specific topical interests include American Indian, GLBT-Q, and animal protection discourses. His work in these areas has appeared in Quarterly Journal of Speech, Southern Communication Journal, Communication Quarterly, American Indian Quarterly, Kenneth Burke Journal, Journal of Media and Cultural Politics and numerous book chapters. Black has been the recipient of the Rushing Early Career Award and the Owen Peterson Award from the Southern States Communication Association, and the Wrage-Baskerville Award from the National Communication Association.
