Geronimo's essay is a linear text pasted into the right frame of his personal website. Navigation in the left frame of the page enables the user to move from the essay to other areas of the website. In many respects, then, Geronimo's hypertext follows exactly the same format as the online journal Culture Machine.
But this HTML essay does a bit more than simply move a print text into the <body> tag of an HTML document. It contains both external links and screen shots of web pages relevant to the argument. These two elements of the essay move it in the direction of an extralinear essay and a new media essay.
