HTML Essay - Culture Machine texts 
 

The typical article in Culture Machine looks very much like the screen capture of an excerpt from Simon Critchley's, "Ethics, Politics, and Radical Democracy - The History of a Disagreement." The entire essay appears on one page, and the reader uses a scroll bar to move through the text. The presentation of almost every essay at Culture Machine appears in this linear fashion.

The hypertextual elements at Culture Machine lie beyond the confines of the actual essays published by the online journal. Links at the bottom of the page enable the user to navigate the various elements of Culture Machine, and make it possible to move from the table of contents to actual contributions
