Lena (Sunada-Matsumura) Newlin is a fourth-generation Japanese American and a descendant of Japanese Americans incarcerated on the basis of their ancestry during WWII at Heart Mountain, Wyoming. She recently left behind a 22-year career in Public Health to focus on writing a book about her family history and is an MFA student at the University of Wyoming. Her writing has been nominated for a Pushcart Literary Prize and appears in Solstice Literary Magazine, DoveTales: A Writing for Peace Literary Journal of the Arts, and High Desert Journal. She teaches rhetoric and composition to first-year college students.
