Jonathan Alexander is Professor of English and Campus Writing Director at the University of California, Irvine. Jonathan has authored or edited six books, including the recently published Literacy, Sexuality, Pedagogy: Theory and Practice for Composition Studies, and the co-authored Finding Out: An Introduction to LGBT Studies. His books have been nominated for various awards, including the Lambda Literary Award and the Computers and Composition Distinguished Book Award, and he is a three-time recipient of the Ellen Nold Award for Best Articles in the field of Computers and Composition Studies. Jonathan also works on several editorial boards and has been named as one of the founding editorial board members for Computers and Composition Digital Press. Jonathan's work focuses primarily on the use of emerging communications technologies in the teaching of writing and in shifting conceptions of what writing, composing, and authoring mean. Along these lines, Jonathan also works at the intersection of the fields of writing studies and sexuality studies, where he explores what discursive theories of sexuality have to teach us about literacy and literate practice in pluralistic democracies.
